Dallas County is the second-most populous county in Texas, home to approximately 2.6 million residents and the city of Dallas itself. From the dense urban grid of downtown Dallas to the established suburbs of Richardson, Garland, Mesquite, Irving, and Carrollton, Dallas County's housing stock is among the most architecturally diverse in the state. HonestRoof.com has been serving Dallas County families since 1954, replacing and restoring roofs across every neighborhood, every era, and every roof style. Our Arlington headquarters places our crews within 30 minutes of every Dallas County city we serve, and we have spent more than seven decades learning the specific roofing realities of this county's varied building stock and aggressive North Texas storm pattern. From prewar craftsman homes in Oak Cliff to the architecturally varied master-planned communities of Coppell, Lake Forest, and north Dallas, we know what each era of Dallas County construction needs.

Geography
Inside Dallas County
Dallas County covers 909 square miles in the eastern half of the DFW metroplex. It is bordered by Denton County to the north, Collin County to the northeast, Rockwall and Kaufman Counties to the east, Ellis County to the south, and Tarrant County to the west. The Trinity River runs through the heart of the county. Major freeways including Interstate 20, Interstate 30, Interstate 35 East, Interstate 635 (LBJ Freeway), US Highway 75 (Central Expressway), and the Dallas North Tollway connect every corner of the county to downtown. White Rock Lake, Bachman Lake, Mountain Creek Lake, and Joe Pool Lake provide the lakeside microclimates that affect roof exposure in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Storm Reality
Weather In Dallas County
Dallas County experiences the same severe North Texas weather as the rest of DFW. The metroplex averages 10 to 20 significant hail events each year, peaking from March through June. Hailstones in Dallas County regularly reach golf-ball size and larger. Straight-line winds frequently top 60 to 80 miles per hour during severe storms, and tornado watches are part of every spring season. Older homes in East Dallas, Oak Cliff, Pleasant Grove, and Lake Highlands often have original ventilation systems that no longer meet current code, which compounds heat-related shingle wear during the long Texas summer. Newer construction in Coppell, Lake Forest, and parts of north Dallas was built to higher modern standards but still faces the same hail and wind realities every year.
Roofing Stock
Homes In Dallas County
Dallas County's housing inventory ranges from prewar craftsman homes in East Dallas and Oak Cliff, through dense mid-century subdivisions in Pleasant Grove, Lake Highlands, and the original Garland and Mesquite tracts, into the architecturally varied master-planned communities of Coppell, Lake Forest, and parts of north Dallas. Each era brings its own roofing characteristics. Older homes often need decking work as part of a replacement because of long-accumulated water intrusion or original 1950s plank decking. Mid-century homes typically need full underlayment upgrades and modernized ventilation. Newer architectural shingle installations need careful color matching and HOA compliance. Knowing the difference between these is the difference between a roof that lasts twenty years and one that fails in five.
